Such a great question and most tradies would be asked questions like this with the ‘simple tasks’ that seem so easy to everyone else.
Did you know that the piece of glass in your door will need to be replaced?
The entire panel will be deemed unsafe and/or unable to be used. When trying to cut the glass, it will shatter into a million pieces; it is designed to do that.
Why? Because if you fell through the glass door, it is designed to make sure you are not sliced in half. Yes, you will get cuts and bruises, which is better than the alternative.
This is the reason why we can’t cut the glass and need to replace the panel. Now, I won’t go into the entire technical process of this (that will be another post).
Essentially, we will make a new piece of glass with the cutout, and it will be made to Australian Safety Standards to ensure you and your family are safe from any potential accident.
Another important complex process is the measure and installing of the glass. The glass will only have a grace fluctuation of millimetres. If it’s too small, the glass will fall through the aluminium framing and you will have no glass panel in your door.
To have the knowledge of removing the door, pulling the framework apart is learnt with skill over time learning each different aspects of aluminium from many different building materials.
Any misalignment could compromise the door’s functionality and safety. So, while it might seem complicated, each step is crucial for a safe and successful installation.
